Prayer Requests:
JULY 2008
As you all probably know, this last year has been challenging for us to say the least.
We made the decision to temporarily and indefinitely (until last month) relocate to
Chicago for Craig’s Burkitt’s Lymphoma treatment, within a period of 4 days.In fact, most things in the year were indefinite. We didn’t know where we were going
to live, what doctor Craig should see, how Craig would get to his treatments if Kristen
was working, how we were going to live on 1 salary, where Kristen would work if we
moved, etc. (Craig was told by the doctor that it would be next to impossible for him to
work and be treated as aggressively as he would need to be treated. His prognosis at
the diagnosis, if untreated, was 2 - 3 months.)
What we found out was that God had something much more important for us to learn.
All of the things above, although they were things that had to be considered, were only
logistics. And God had them all worked out for us almost before they could be
considered. God wanted to teach us how to lean on Him for our physical needs.
We learned how to praise Him during the difficult times. This type of worship is the
only gift that we can give to Him that didn’t come from Him from the beginning. We were reminded that He doesn’t give us diseases, but He may allow us to contract a
disease and entrust us to lean on Him and give Him praise during that time. He will
always take the ugliness of the disease and make it into something beautiful.
This is what He did for us. He took this difficult time and blessed us beyond anything
that we could imagine. He sent angels, like this church and our friends and family, to
take care of us and help us along the journey. He has drawn close to us both and has
deepened our faith in Him.
We are thankful that He has allowed Craig to stay a little longer here on earth, but we
are even more thankful that He has allowed us to take this journey.
May 27, 2008 Craig Howe’s Update
Craig returned to work in Naples, FL, on Monday, May 19, a year and one day after being diagnosed with high grade non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He was able to work full days all week with the exception of one day. Praise the Lord for His awesome touch! We invite you to celebrate with us the amazing grace that Jehovah-rapha has administered so faithfully across these months! He will experience quarterly and semiannual tests for two years to monitor his condition.
WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE!!!
